Family of Origin

Our family of origin is the place we typically learn how to communicate, express emotion, and develop a sense of values and beliefs. Our earliest experiences produce the coping strategies that help us navigate our childhood. We typically continue these strategies into adulthood, those that are beneficial, and even those that are not. Exploring our family of origin helps increase awareness around patterns that are helpful and patterns that are getting in the way of the life, and the relationships, we long for. Mapping early family patterns can help in our exploration of understanding the root of certain choices, beliefs, and communication patterns that impact us today.  Working through family issues can help in overcoming fear, produce greater emotional connection and prevent unhealthy cycles from continuing.
