Early Attachment

Attachment can be defined as a deep and enduring emotional bond between two people in which each seeks closeness and feels more secure when in the presence of the attachment figure. The emotional bond between parents and their children are thought to be partially responsible for the bond that develops between adults in emotionally intimate relationships.

Based on Attachment theory, we unconsciously respond in our adult relationships based on attachment styles that develop in childhood. There are four recognized attachment styles: secure, insecure- avoidant, anxious and disorganized. As we understand our story, we can move from insecure styles of attachment to more secure attachment in our future relationships.
